What is a Display Energy Certificate?
A Display Energy Certificate (DEC) shows the actual energy usage of a building, the Operational Rating, and it allows the public to see the energy efficiency of the building. The information is based on the energy consumption as recorded by electricity, gas and other meters. A DEC should be clearly displayed at all times and clearly visible to the public. It is should also be accompanied by an Advisory Report that lists cost effective measures to improve the energy rating of the building.
A DEC is required for a building with a total useful floor area over 1,000 square meters, that is occupied by a public authority and/or institution that provides a public service to a large number of persons and is therefore visited by those persons. The certificate is valid for one year. The accompanying Advisory Report is valid for seven years.
Please complete the form above to receive a set of contact details from Energy Assessors who specialize in providing Display Energy Certificates. You will be able to make direct contact with them to discuss your requirement in more detail. Before appointing a supplier and placing an order you should ensure yourself that your chosen supplier has satisfactory qualifications, accreditation, experience and insurance to provide the level of service that you require.
Commercial properties that are to be sold or rented to another person need a Commercial EPC.
New buildings require a Predicted Energy Assessment (PEA).
If you are near completing, or have completed the building of a new home then you will require an On Construction Energy Performance Certificate (OCEPC).
If you have an air conditioning system you may possibly require an Air Conditioning Inspection.
If you are selling a domestic property then you may need a domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
The above notes are for guidance only and you would be wise to consider consulting a Solicitor to check your legal requirements. Before appointing an Energy Assessor do check that they have adequate qualifications, experience and insurance. In addition the Energy Assessor should also belong to one of the recognized accreditation schemes. There are a number of schemes recognized by the government.
