Removals

The current system of house purchase in England & Wales means that removal dates may require to be set at short notice, close to the completion date. It is, therefore, always advisable to get quotes and decide on which removal company you are most comfortable with, well in advance. Always give your remover of choice as much notice as possible when booking their services. The house purchase process in Scotland is different and there is therefore the opportunity to arrange removals well in advance.

The two main methods of undertaking a house removal are to employ a removals company or to hire a van and do it yourself. While the do it yourself option may appear to be more cost effective, it is much more time consuming, when time is valuable. It also needs to be remembered that the cost of any damage to furniture, belongings or property will most likely not be covered by insurance and the cost of repair or replacement could be substantial. The possibility of personal injury is also a factor to be considered. It is also unlikely that a removal for a medium to large property would be managed in a single day.

Prior to removal day, the contents of the property will need to be packed. Very few local supermarkets are now in a position to supply cardboard boxes due to their recycling policies and would now need to be sourced elsewhere. Wardrobe boxes, which make the transporting of clothes much easier, would also require to be purchased.

Most removal companies are able to supply packaging materials and some offer a full packing service to their clients, ahead of the removal date. They will provide the boxes and packaging, materials, pack everything for you collecting the boxes and packaging at a later date. This service may not be included in estimated costs, so best to check with the service provider. All packaging should be clearly marked with the room or area they should be taken to in the new property and all fragile or breakable items should be well protected. Some service providers will also disassemble beds, cots, etc and reassemble in the new property.

Always remember to make the remover aware of garden furniture and tools as well as plant pots and patio shrubs etc.

Please check that your removal company of choice is fully insured against any accidents which would cause damage to goods or property and injury to people.

Customer Feedback

Please see below for some of the feedback we have received about the suppliers we have got listed on our website:

I was worried about there being something missing about this service as my EA wanted £75!! and Lee was less than half the price! usually i'd choose somewhere in-between to be safe but went with Lee on the off chance as he was also the quickest to get back to me as well. Lee is very friendly, communicates well and is swift to reply by text, phone and email; couldn't recommend him enough. Thank you!
Emma, Bolton
Semsettin worked on getting LDC's on a couple of properties . I found the quality of the service to be excellent in all respects and was particularly helpful in giving advice on related aspects which was over and beyond the original remit. I admire Semsettin's persistence with the council in securing the consents . I have no hesitation in recommending Zanoply for planning applications - I noticed that someone said on the facebook review that they are more than architects which is absolutely the case from my experience .
Meb, London
Provided a range of possibilities, several of whom were in touch really quickly and got everything sorted the same day as requesting quotes
Brian, Chichester
Chris did an amazing job for us. He went above and beyond what we would have expected, was always on hand to explain things and nothing seemed too much trouble. First class service.
Cheryl, Woking
Very easy to use, quick and extremely useful response. Website form asked for just the right amount of details. This is the kind of efficient online service that should be provided for other services but far too often fails: slow, clunky, obtrusive, etc. Well done. I am already following up with a potential local surveyor.
Jeff, Leighton Buzzard
Good service very pleased
Peter, Kingston
Reply within 2 minutes of posting enquiry. Visit within 5 days. Report the next day. Helpful and clear advice given
Barbara, Pinner
I had no idea where to look for a Surveyor or Architect. I contacted the Company nearest to the property I was going to purchase. I got a very helpful e-mail from them and an offer to meet me at the property to discuss the best way to convert the downstairs into a comfortable mini-flat. Unfortunately, my Purchaser pulled out yesterday but should I be lucky to get another shortly I will definitely go back to the same Company
Lesley, Devizes
Very professional. Knew the area and building
